The Consulate of Monaco in Las Vegas hopes to have a strong showing of applicants for grants, apprenticeships, fellowships and scholarships in the performing arts, from Southern Nevada.  Applicants from Nevada, Colorado, Utah and Wyoming please let us know when you have applied!

NEW YORK, Jan. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — The Princess Grace Foundation-USA (PGF-USA) announces the availability of applications for the 2011 Princess Grace Awards in Theater, Playwriting, Dance Performance, Choreography, and Film.  Founded in 1982, in memory of Princess Grace (Kelly) of Monaco, the Foundation identifies and assists emerging artists in theater, dance and film and has awarded more than $8 million to nearly 500 individuals nationwide. Executive Director Toby Boshak notes, “Throughout the difficult economic climate over the past few years, PGF-USA has proudly maintained the same level of support to deserving artists around the country.

“Theater Awards are offered in the form of scholarships, apprenticeships and fellowships.  Grants are awarded based on the quality of the emerging artist’s past work, his/her potential for future excellence, and the impact the collaboration between the nominating organization and the artist will have on the individual’s artistic growth. The Playwriting Award includes a residency at New Dramatists, Inc. and opportunity for the winning play to be licensed and published by Samuel French, Inc.

THEATER & PLAYWRITING APPLICATION POSTMARK DEADLINE: MARCH 31, 2011Dance Performance Awards are offered in the form of scholarships and fellowships. Awards are based on the applicant’s artistic merit, significance of the Award to current artistic development, and the potential for future excellence and impact on the field.  Choreography Awards offer emerging choreographers the opportunity to create a new work with organizations with which they have little experience.  

DANCE/CHOREOGRAPHY APPLICATION POSTMARK DEADLINE: APRIL 30, 2011Film Scholarships, awarded to undergraduate and graduate students, are by invitation-only.  Approved university, college and school film programs are invited to submit applicants via their Department Chairs or Deans.  Film scholarships provide funding toward the filmmaker’s thesis project.  A complete list of accepted schools is in the FAQ of Grants Program at www.pgfusa.org.

Consul of Monaco sponsors Las Vegas ArtsThe Consulate of the Principality of Monaco is a proud sponsor of Two Tenors and a Rose, the February 12, 2011 Valentine’s weekend show starring Marco Varela, Betsy Ann Fiore and Antonio Esclapes.

Marco Varela and Betsy Ann Fiore were introduced to Consul Warren in 2009 when they performed an impromptu opera number at Cocktails with the Consuls at the Palace, a holiday event produced by Mr. Warren for the Consular Chamber of Commerce.

3-time Olypian Surya Bonaly, Cultural Attache of the Monaco Consulate in Las Vegas, to perform at Rock the IceEveryone at the Consulate of Monaco in Las Vegas is very proud of our Cultural Adviser, three-time Olympian, nine-time French National Figure Skating Champion Surya Bonaly. 

On December 19, Surya’s performance in Rock the Ice, with other legendary figure skating champions, will air on Fox television in the US.

A native of Nice, France, Surya made Las Vegas her home in 1998, and is expanding her career into diplomatic and charitable circles.  We look forward to this performance, and others she is completing over the holidays in Canada, France, Lithuania and the US.

Eight Las Vegas consuls and guests join the Consul of Monaco in private suite for the spectacular Event.

Consuls of Brazil, Chile, Guatemala, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden, United Kingdom and Uzbekistan joined Consul Warren and others in Consulate of Monaco box, which flew flags of the Principality from its balcony.  Many friends in the audience sent messages to guests in the very visible Monaco suite.

Kim Schmidt, formerly a bank examiner with the Nevada Financial Institutions Division, was in attendance representing co-sponsor Olive Capital.

Mr. Graham and Consul Warren welcomed author Herman Groman, a legendary veteran of FBI international intelligence operations, and introduced him to their friend, renowned CIA veteran Ken Walther, also in attendance.

The group celebrated the announcement that Dr. Aldo Aguirre, also present, was named to the Transition Team of Governor-elect Brian Sandoval, in addition to his duties with the Guatemalan Consulate.

30 September, Monaco–/ Olympic figure skater Surya Bonaly today met with HRH the Princess of Hanover, the hereditary Princess of Monaco, in the Principality. 

Miss Bonaly, who is Cultural Attaché for the Consulate of the Principality of Monaco in Las Vegas, was invited by Her Royal Highness in recognition of Surya’s successful fundraising for AMADE Mondiale, the children’s charity begun by Princess Grace of Monaco in 1963, and continued by her daughter, the Princess of Hanover. 

Professional figure skater Kelly Abolt-Layton joined Surya in Monaco.  The two also had the pleasure to meet Princess Alexandra of Hanover, herself a young figure skater.

The greatest F1 driver to come out of Poland yet, Robert Kubica takes on quite a ride through Monaco.

Consul Warren speaks to LVNW Rotary regarding global water crisis September 29, 2010

Consul Warren was asked to speak to the Las Vegas Northwest Rotary this morning, along with Uzbekistan’s Consul General Gary Furlong, regarding the Global PURE Water Expo, and global water issues.

The International Section of the LVNW Rotary, headed by Dr. Edmee Marcek, has won a prestigious regional award for successful and consistent implementation of international potable water development. 

Consul warren described the challenges in providing aid to various regions, and the role of the Global PURE Water Expo before taking questions from the group.  Consul Warren and Consul General Furlong then dedicated a copy of the children’s book “Oceans,” based on film by the same name, to the library of an at-risk elementary school.

Consuls at Asian Chamber LuncheonThe Las Vegas Asian Chamber of Commerce became the first to welcome the Honorary Consul of the Principality of Monaco in Las Vegas.  Consul Warren attended the luncheon on 23 September at Vdara Hotel at City Center in Las Vegas.  MGM Resorts International Chairman and CEO Jim Murren was the keynote speaker. 

Consul Warren was joined by Gary Furlong, Honorary Consul General of Uzbekistan and Dr. Aldo Aguirre, Honorary Vice-consul of Guatemala.
